This course will teach the fundamentals of competitive debate. It is a basic overview of concepts like constructives, cross examination, rebuttals, etc. We will also talk briefly about rhetorical skills and strategies that are essential for succeeding in debate and public speaking in general. The course is for any who want to participate in debate competitions and clubs, and/or just want to learn a new way of thinking and improve their public speaking skills.

This course is part of our Teen Teachers program in which Darien's high school and college students teach courses about topics they are passionate about. In addition to the Teen Teacher who will lead the activities, a Darien Public Schools staff member will supervise the class.
