MMS Jump Start - Elementary to MMS Transition

Entering grade 6

It's quite a change going from the elementary school to the middle school! Are you or your child a little anxious about the transition? Get an MMS Jump Start on the middle school experience! Our Jump Start staff is comprised of current middle school teachers and student counselors. We will all work to maximize the confidence and minimize the stress your child may feel as s/he makes the transition to MMS. A series of targeted activities will address the concerns of students and parents as they make the transition from the elementary classroom to Middlesex Middle School. Students will learn the "ins" and "outs" of Middlesex. Each student will have introductory classes in the computer room and art room with access to the media center and leave MMS Jump Start with their own hand-crafted, color-coded map of the middle school. They will also interact with new 6th grade students from all of the elementary schools in Darien while meeting many of their new middle school teachers. Team building and social experiences will be introduced in the middle of the program by having a Field Day extravaganza with both sessions on the MMS fields!

Tuition includes a $20 material fee. (9 sessions)
