VIRTUAL class description- This class will include a mixture of live sessions and asynchronous work.  

 

This course is a course designed for students who would like to qualify for Grade 8 Algebra 1 or for students preparing to take Algebra in grade 9. The purpose of this course is to understand the PreAlgebra content necessary for Algebra 1. It is designed for students who have completed Grade 7 Advanced Mathematics or Grade 8 PreAlgebra but could use some reinforcement prior to enrolling in Algebra 1. The topics include equations, transformations, angles and triangles, working with linear equations, real numbers and the Pythagorean Theorem, volume and similar solids, and exponents and scientific notation. This is a rigorous course that will prepare students with a solid pre-algebra foundation needed for future success in Algebra.

* Students ENTERING 8th grade can use this course to qualify for Grade 8 Algebra 1 provided they have attended 23 out of 24 summer school classes and score a B - or higher on the placement exam given at the end of August.
