Exploring Harry Potter (through academics) - Virtual

8:30-10:30 - Grades 3-5

10:30-12:30 - Grades 5-8

VIRTUAL Class Description:  

In this new online format, students will be able to participate in virtual discussions and games centered around the topics of each section of the course. We will hold zoom meetings on a frequent basis (probably at least 2-3 times a week) in which students will have a chance to talk about various topics related to how Harry Potter is applicable to the real world. We will also play various trivia games related to either Harry Potter topics or the real world topics we are comparing Harry Potter to (ie. Name that mythical creature!). Students will still get to work on creative projects that they will be able to share with one another digitally!

This course approaches the various subjects covered throughout the academic year using the Harry Potter series as a venue of learning. Each week will be dedicated to one aspect of the Harry Potter series that correlates with a specific academic subject. It covers such subjects as math, science, social studies, language, and literature. Students will be able to engage in creative projects centered around these interdisciplinary subjects while exploring Harry Potter in a whole new light.
