Summer Academy III: 5th to 6th
Entering grade 6
Summer Academy is designed to assist incoming sixth graders to be academically prepared for the beginning of their schooling at Middlesex. The course covers a complete review of fifth grade math, including place value, large number multiplication/division, all fractional operation and decimal operations, as well as an introduction to sixth grade math. There is an opportunity for challenge work for students who complete the basic tasks each day. The second goal of Summer Academy is to complete all of the summer reading during the five weeks of the class. Typically, the class begins with any required summer reading and then two other books of different genres selected by the instructor. Through a read aloud/read along format, the reading material is accessible to students of all reading levels.
