Writing the College Essay

For students entering grades 11-12
This course is designed to help upperclassmen prepare for their college essays, an increasingly important part of the application process. During the five sessions, students will read sample essays, prepare for their college essays, learn about what admissions officers value in personal statements, and brainstorm topics that will help them stand out in a crowded field of applicants. In class, students will also have time to workshop their ideas and conference with their teacher. By the end of the course, students should leave with a draft of a personal statement that they can use for their applications.
Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops.
