For students entering grade 6

VIRTUAL Class Description: 

In this historic pandemic, we are all on a voyage through the unknown! While the summer (thankfully) awaits, the start of a new school year looms near and, for students entering Middlesex as 6th graders, this still means the start of yet another very new way of life. Middlesex Voyagers continues to be focused on helping students develop confidence and reduce anxiety as they embark on yet another adventure. Coming together through Zoom sessions and digital activities just before the school year starts, your Voyager will work with MMS teachers and school counselors to become familiar with the ins and outs of Middlesex and 6th grade, including an introduction to our school norms, and various school-wide projects. In addition to discovering secrets to organizing their digital lives, students will learn strategies to help them juggle and manage assignments and expectations from different teachers, and will also participate in our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program. Our Voyagers will have lots of questions and we will prepare them with the answers they need for their journey!

Because Middlesex Voyagers will meet at the end of August, the program will continue to develop over the summer in response to any new information provided about the reopening of school to further ease this transition. By the end of our week together, students will have their middle school bags packed and be eager to set off on this school year’s journey!

Middle school isn’t just a change in school buildings for your child -it’s a whole new way of life!  Middlesex Voyagers is designed to help students develop confidence and reduce anxiety as they embark on this exciting adventure. By the end of our week together, students will have their middle school bags packed and be eager to set off on this school year’s journey!

*This program will have a different focus than MMS Jump Start so students are able to register for one or both programs!
