Happy Coding: Programming your Pet-In Person
Grades - 5-8
Happy Code Club presents: Programming Your Pet. Happy Code Club’s interpretation of codehs.com curriculum for the basics of computer programming. Learn how to code with Karel the Dog—a fun, accessible, and visual introduction to text or block-based programming that teaches fundamental concepts like commands and functions. Karel The Dog is a student’s own virtual pet that does what they tell her to do simply by giving commands into a computer. Students will need to be careful with their programming of Karel as she can sometimes do something completely unexpected! Students can save Karel and set her on the right way by checking for bugs in their code and trying again. Students will learn how programming is straightforward yet requires careful attention to detail by programming commands to a dog.
