Young Writers Studio

Entering Grades K-1

In Young Writers Studio, students develop early writing skills through playful, hands-on activities that build confidence and creativity. This class is designed for incoming Kindergarten and 1st grade students and focuses on strengthening the foundations of writing in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students will practice handwriting and letter formation, develop fine motor skills, and build vocabulary. Through storytelling, drawing, shared writing, and small group activities, students will explore how ideas turn into words on the page. Daily read-alouds will introduce students to authors and stories that inspire creativity while modeling how writers use pictures, words, and sentences to tell a story. Instruction is developmentally appropriate and differentiated, allowing students to work at their own level—whether they are just beginning to write letters or ready to stretch into sentences. By the end of the course, students will feel more confident expressing their ideas through writing and develop a positive attitude toward writing that will support them in the school year ahead.
